This is an unofficial web remake based on the rules and controls of the original Pikachu Volleyball. It uses no original artwork or sounds and is not affiliated with the original creators or any Pokémon company.

How to Play Pikachu Volleyball

Pikachu Volleyball is a free browser volleyball game: keep the ball off your sand and make it land on the other side. The first player to 15 points wins. Your character receives the ball automatically on contact; Hit is for spikes and dives, not ordinary receiving. Choose one player against the computer or two players sharing a keyboard. Touch controls provide one-player play.

This guide describes the unofficial blockblast.co remake. In one-player mode you always control the left character, even when using the arrow keys. Other Pikachu Volleyball websites may use different controls, allow you to choose a side, or offer internet multiplayer.

Pikachu Volleyball scoring, serving and the court

  • A ball touching the sand awards one point to the opposite side. A 14–14 score needs just one more point: 15–14 ends the match, with no two-point lead required.
  • The left player serves first. After each point, its winner serves next; the ball drops above that player's side after the ready phase.
  • The walls and ceiling bounce the ball back into play. There is no out-of-bounds point. Watch the return instead of assuming a ball near the edge has gone out.
  • The net pillar can send a low shot back into your own half. Contact above the net gives a flat shot more room to cross.
  • Ordinary contact rebounds the ball upward. Where it touches your body affects its sideways speed, so moving under the ball is useful even without pressing Hit.

For solo Pikachu Volleyball, either set controls the same left character. Space is an additional Hit key in one-player mode; it does not replace either player's Hit key in two-player mode. W/A/S/D is not this version's layout, and the keys cannot be remapped here.

F and V are different in Pikachu Volleyball. F supplies both Down and Right, so it moves you right on the ground. V supplies Down alone. In the air, F + Z selects a diagonal downward spike, while V + Z selects a downward spike with less sideways speed. You still need to contact the ball during the swing.

The Pikachu Volleyball keyboard controls give Up priority over Down. If you hold R + V + Z, the direction is Up and the contact produces a lob rather than a downward smash. Jump first, then release R before pressing V + Z. Left also takes priority over Right when both are held.

Pikachu Volleyball Spikes and Diving

To spike in Pikachu Volleyball, press Hit while airborne to start a swing, with a short wind-up. The direction held when the ball contacts you selects the shot. A late swing can miss; repeatedly holding Hit does not keep starting new swings. Release and press it again for another attempt.

Shot at contactP1 inputP2 inputWhat changes
Flat spikeZ, no directionEnter, no directionBall travels horizontally toward the opponent
Fast flat spikeD or G + ZLeft or Right + EnterHorizontal speed doubles; either horizontal direction sends it toward the opponent
Downward spikeV + ZDown + EnterBall travels down, with ordinary horizontal spike speed
Fast downward spikeF + ZDown + Left or Right + EnterDownward path with doubled horizontal speed
LobR + ZUp + EnterBall travels up before returning from the ceiling
Fast lobR + D or G + ZUp + Left or Right + EnterUpward path with doubled horizontal speed

For a Pikachu Volleyball smash, try making contact close to the net and above its top. A downward attack from deep in your half can reach your own sand before crossing, so it is not automatically the best shot. If you are farther back, a flat shot or lob gives the ball a route over the net. Follow its bounce after hitting instead of staying at the net.

On the ground, hold Left or Right and press Hit to dive that way. A dive extends your reach to a low ball but leaves you briefly lying down after landing. Use it when walking cannot reach the ball; diving at every return can leave you unable to cover the next one.

Learn Pikachu Volleyball in a First-Rally Exercise

There is no separate practice-mode button on this page. You can try this short sequence in a normal Pikachu Volleyball match; Easy gives you more forgiving computer reactions.

  1. Start one-player Pikachu Volleyball. Use D/G or the arrow keys to stand beneath the first falling ball. Let it touch your character without Hit and observe the automatic upward bounce.
  2. On a later return, jump with R or Up. Release Jump and tap Hit while the ball is near you. Begin with no direction held to learn the flat shot's timing.
  3. Repeat near the net, this time holding V + Z, or Down + Enter, at contact. Compare its downward path with the flat shot. If it comes back into your sand, change your contact position rather than pressing harder.
  4. Try F + Z after releasing R. It adds Right as well as Down; compare it with V + Z. Holding R through contact changes the shot to an upward one instead.

Each return develops differently, so this is a control exercise, not a guaranteed scoring sequence. In two-player Pikachu Volleyball, a friend can return the ball while you take turns testing one shot. That remains a scored match to 15, not an unlimited training mode.

Pikachu Volleyball Against the Computer

Both Normal and Easy include this remake's one-player assists: your walking speed is increased, the computer reacts later to a spiked ball, and its first serve contact uses a gentler lob. These assists change positioning and computer response, not your spike's hitting speed. They do not apply to two-player matches.

Easy mode in Pikachu Volleyball adds about 0.16 seconds of computer reaction delay. A win still ends at 15 points, but Easy wins do not increase the saved win count or best winning margin. Select Normal when you want a result added to those records.

To improve at Pikachu Volleyball, first keep ordinary returns alive, then add one deliberate attack at a time. Watch where the ball is heading after a wall or ceiling bounce. Move toward that landing area early; save a dive for a low ball outside walking reach. Mix flat shots and lobs with downward attacks near the net, then recover toward the returning ball. The computer can still defend these shots, so none is a guaranteed winning trick.

Pikachu Volleyball on Mobile and Input Problems

Use the on-screen direction pad, Jump and Hit for one-player Pikachu Volleyball on a phone. Landscape provides a larger court. The pad's lower area supplies Down; its left and right areas also move you sideways. While airborne, sliding the pad down takes priority over a held Jump button, so a touch smash is possible without first releasing Jump. Keyboard inputs follow the different Up-first rule above.

Two-player Pikachu Volleyball needs a shared keyboard on the same device. Its start button is hidden in the touch-only interface; this site does not provide a touch-controlled two-player match or remote multiplayer. Attaching a keyboard does not guarantee that a phone browser will change how it exposes that button.

Switching tabs or leaving the window pauses the match and clears held inputs. Return, then click or tap the paused court to resume; a game key can also resume without applying that key to the next shot. If several keys work alone but fail together in two-player mode, try fewer simultaneous keys or another keyboard: the keyboard may not report that combination. Refreshing starts over rather than restoring the current match.

Pikachu Volleyball Results, Records and Versions

Normal one-player wins and your largest winning margin are stored in this browser when storage is available. For example, 15–12 is a win with a margin of 3; 15–14 has a margin of 1. A loss, an Easy win or a two-player match does not increase these records. They are personal browser records, not a global leaderboard, and clearing site data or using a different browser can change what you see.

In Pikachu Volleyball, Play Again begins a new match in the current mode. Change Mode returns to the start options. Share sends the result and page link through the device's sharing feature or attempts to copy them; it does not create an online room for another player.

The original Pikachu Volleyball is the 1997 Japanese Windows game “対戦ぴかちゅ~ ビーチバレー編”, credited to SACHI SOFT / SAWAYAKAN Programmers and Satoshi Takenouchi. A separately maintained JavaScript reconstruction documents that history and has its own practice, menu and multiplayer options. Those features are not instructions for this remake.

This Pikachu Volleyball version uses newly drawn characters, backgrounds and sound effects, with no original artwork or sounds. It is unofficial and unaffiliated with the original creators or any Pokémon company. For a different short browser challenge, try the reaction-time test; for a turn-based game to share at one screen, see Number Baseball.

Pikachu Volleyball FAQ

How do you play Pikachu Volleyball?

In Pikachu Volleyball, move under the ball to receive it automatically, then use Jump and Hit to attack. A ball landing on the opponent's sand earns one point; the first player to 15 wins. This browser remake offers one player against the computer and two players sharing a keyboard.

What are the Pikachu Volleyball keyboard controls?

In two-player mode, P1 uses D left, G right, R jump, V down and Z Hit. F supplies both Down and Right. P2 uses the arrow keys and Enter or Numpad Enter for Hit. In one-player mode both layouts control the left character, and Space is another Hit key. W/A/S/D is not the layout here.

What is the difference between F and V in Pikachu Volleyball?

F sends Down and Right together; V sends only Down. In the air, F + Z gives a fast downward shot, while V + Z gives a downward shot with less sideways speed. You must contact the ball during the swing. On the ground F moves right, while V alone does not.

Why does my Pikachu Volleyball smash turn into a lob?

The keyboard gives Up priority over Down. If R is still held with V or F when the ball contacts your swing, the shot goes upward. Jump first, release R, then hold your downward direction and press Z. On touch controls, sliding the pad down while airborne takes priority over the held Jump button instead.

Can two people play Pikachu Volleyball online?

This site supports local two-player play on the same device with one shared keyboard, not internet multiplayer. Choose 2 Players if its button is available. Share sends or copies a result and link; it does not create a remote match. Other websites may offer a separate P2P version.

Can I play Pikachu Volleyball on my phone?

Yes, use the on-screen pad, Jump and Hit in one-player mode against the computer. Landscape gives a larger court. The touch-only interface hides the two-player start button. Two players need a shared keyboard; attaching one to a phone does not guarantee that the browser will expose that button.

Do I need a Pikachu Volleyball download?

No download or registration is needed to play Pikachu Volleyball in this browser remake. It is not the original Windows executable. This page does not offer an installer or promise offline play.

How do I dive or spike in Pikachu Volleyball?

To dive in Pikachu Volleyball, hold Left or Right and press Hit while standing on the ground. While airborne, press Hit to start a swing and keep the intended direction held at contact to select a flat shot, downward shot or lob. Holding Hit does not repeatedly start swings; release and press again for another attempt.

Does Easy mode count toward Pikachu Volleyball records?

No. Easy adds about 0.16 seconds of computer reaction delay, but its wins do not increase the saved win count or best winning margin. Normal one-player wins do. Both difficulties include the site's one-player assists; two-player matches have neither side's one-player assists.

Does Pikachu Volleyball need a two-point lead to win?

No. This Pikachu Volleyball remake ends when the first side reaches 15, so 15–14 wins the match. Each ball landing on the sand awards one point to the other side, regardless of which side served. Walls and the ceiling rebound the ball without awarding an out-of-bounds point.

Where are my Pikachu Volleyball wins saved?

Normal one-player wins and the best winning margin are personal records in the current browser when storage is available. A 15–12 win has a margin of 3. Losses, Easy wins and two-player matches do not increase them. There is no account sync or global leaderboard, and reloading does not restore the current match.

Why did Pikachu Volleyball pause or stop responding to keys?

Leaving the tab or window pauses the match. Return and click or tap the court, or press a game key to resume; that resuming key is not applied to a shot. If a key combination fails only when several keys are held, the keyboard may not report those keys together. Try fewer simultaneous keys or a different keyboard. Key remapping and a separate practice mode are not available here.
