What an aim trainer does

Aim practice is the drill of moving your cursor onto a target and clicking it quickly and accurately, over and over. In a shooter there are two separate complaints: "I saw them but my hand was late" and "I rushed and missed". The first is how fast you travel to the target; the second is how precisely you stop on it. This aim trainer measures both in a single run.

It runs in the browser, so there's nothing to install, it's free, there's no account, and your scores stay in the browser you played in rather than on a server.

How a run works

  • One run is thirty targets. Hit one and the next appears elsewhere immediately; the run ends on the thirtieth.
  • Target size has three settings: large, medium and small.
  • At the end you get your average hit time in milliseconds per target, your accuracy, and the total time taken.
  • Clicking empty space draws a grey cross at that spot and counts as a miss. The run keeps going, but accuracy drops.
  • Best scores are stored separately per target size, so a small-target score never overwrites a large-target one.

One more rule worth knowing: the next target always appears a minimum distance away from the one you just hit. That stops anyone from farming a score by clicking in place, and it means every run actually makes you move.

Setup and controls

A mouse on a desktop gives the truest reading. A touchscreen works too, but your finger covers the target and the numbers shift, so only compare runs made on the same device. Aiming needs a pointer, so there's no keyboard-only mode.

A few minutes of setup makes your scores far more stable:

  • Lock your sensitivity. There is no sensitivity slider here; the browser simply receives the cursor position your operating system provides. Change DPI or pointer speed mid-session and the scores on either side of that change are not comparable.
  • Clear space for the mouse. If your arm hits the edge of the desk, you leak time on the far targets.
  • Pick one target size and stay there. Medium today, medium next week. Only scores collected at the same size mean anything.
  • Use the fullscreen button. It widens the area targets can appear in, which is closer to a real game view. Just remember that a different area produces different numbers, so keep the condition constant when comparing.

Getting better

  • Fix speed or accuracy, not both. Fast average but low accuracy? Make "stop, then click" the goal of the run. High accuracy but slow? Make "one confident sweep" the goal. Working on both at once usually fixes neither.
  • Big move first, then micro-adjust. Most of the lost time happens in that wobble near the target. Commit to the first movement and keep the correction short.
  • Use the arm for long travel. Wrist-only aiming runs out of range on targets across the screen and forces you to reset mid-move.
  • Warm up large, finish small. Large targets train travel speed; small ones train how cleanly you stop.
  • Short and often. Thirty targets takes about a minute. Three runs before you play, regularly, beats ten runs once.
  • Don't chase someone else's benchmark. The "average ms" figures online were measured with different target sizes, screens and sensitivities. Your own score from last week, under the same settings, is the only comparison that holds.

Does this replace in-game practice?

No. What you're drilling here is the bare motion — travel, stop, click — which makes it a good warm-up before you launch a game. It doesn't reproduce a game's sensitivity curve, recoil control, reading an opponent's movement, or judging engagement distance. Actual skill still grows inside the game. Treat this page as a one-minute check on how your hand is behaving today.

Worth measuring alongside

The time it takes to hit a target mixes two things: noticing it and moving to it. To isolate the first half, take the light-and-press reaction check, where you press the moment the screen flips to green. We also wrote up how to read those millisecond numbers without over-interpreting them.

Is this aim trainer free? Do I need to install anything?

It's free and there's nothing to install or sign up for. Open the page in a browser and it runs. A mouse gives the truest result, but it also works on a touchscreen.

How does a round work?

Thirty targets appear one at a time. Hit one and the next one appears somewhere else immediately. After the thirtieth, the round ends and you get your average hit time and your accuracy.

Which target size should I use?

Large targets mostly test how fast you move the mouse; small ones test how precisely you stop it. Best scores are saved per size, so pick one size and compare within it.

How is accuracy calculated?

Hits divided by total clicks — hits plus misses. Clicking empty space draws a grey cross for a moment and counts as a miss, but it doesn't end the round.

What is a good average hit time?

Benchmarks you find online were measured with different target sizes, screens and mouse sensitivities, so they aren't comparable. This page saves only your own best time at each target size; use that as your baseline.

Will this improve my aim in FPS games?

It drills the raw motion — move, stop, click — which makes it a reasonable warm-up. It doesn't reproduce in-game sensitivity, recoil or the way real opponents move, so it's not a replacement for practising in the game itself.

Can I set mouse sensitivity or DPI here?

No. The browser only receives the cursor position your operating system and mouse hand it, so sensitivity is changed in your mouse software or system settings. If you want comparable scores, don't change sensitivity between rounds.

Can I play with a keyboard?

No. Aiming needs a pointer, so you need a mouse, trackpad or touchscreen.

Where is my best score kept?

Only in the browser you played in. Private windows, other browsers and other devices keep their own records, and clearing this site's data erases them.
